Larry Mah, Shawnee County Treasurer announces for immediate release.

• Motor Vehicle operations at the Courthouse will be temporarily suspended beginning Friday, April 7, 2023 at 3:00PM.
• Normal operations will continue at the Motor Vehicle Annex located at 5938 SW 17th Street.
• Treasury operations will continue at the Courthouse however; the office will be temporarily relocated to the Register of Deeds office in room 108.

The closing of the 7th and Quincy Street intersection for water main and road work will make parking and access to the Courthouse difficult. At the same time, demolition and construction related to the Courthouse rehabilitation project will begin in the Treasurer’s office area of the first floor. The intersection is expected to be closed about four weeks and the workspace construction is expected to take about two weeks.

If all goes well, we hope to resume the Courthouse Motor Vehicle operations during the week of April 24th.

We will accept drop off tax payments at the MV Annex however, we will not process the payment at the annex. Receipts will be mailed to the taxpayer. Payments dropped off must be paid by check or money order, no cash or credit card payments will be accepted. We encourage taxpayers to pay online or by mail.

We are sorry for the inconvenience, but this temporary operation is necessary to insure the safety of the public and employees when working in our office.
